Outdoor cinema screening of Grease at Walton Hall and Gardens postponed due to bad weather

Unfortunately, Walton Hall and Gardens has announced it has had to postpone this evening’s planned screening of Grease.

The event, which was set to take place in memory of the film’s star, Olivia Newton-John, following her death earlier this year, as well as to raise funds for St Rocco’s Hospice, has instead been moved to the new date of Friday 19 May 2023.

Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “Following the forecast of severe weather conditions all day today, we have taken the difficult decision, in conjunction with the team at St Rocco’s, to postpone tonight’s outdoor cinema event.

“The health and safety of our customers is our number one priority and we want to ensure everyone who has purchased a ticket enjoys the full experience that the Walton Hall and Gardens has to offer. Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather that is currently predicted, we feel it is unfair for our customers to go ahead with the event as planned.

“We hope many people can join us on the new date to enjoy a night of cinema under the stars within Walton’s beautiful grounds, all while helping a hugely important local charity.”

All current tickets will be immediately transferred to the new date next year. All ticket holders have been contacted directly and refunds are also available upon request via the customer’s original Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

Following the refund process, a limited number of tickets for the rearranged date will also be available to purchase via Walton Hall and Gardens website at waltonhallgardens.co.uk/events

All profits from ticket sales for this event are still going to St Rocco’s Hospice who provide vital support for patients and local people every day.

Cllr Higgins continued: “I can’t wait to see people come to Walton for what will be a fantastic evening, although later than originally planned, to watch this much-loved 70’s classic, knowing that all profits are going to such a fantastic and worthwhile cause.”
