PANDEMIC PRAISE FOR HALTON’S REGISTRATION SERVICE

REGISTER OFFICE WORKERS WORK HARD TO SAY ‘WE DO’ TO WEDDINGS

Halton Borough Council Registration Service has been praised for its excellent performance during the current pandemic.

The Compliance Officer for General Registration Office for England and Wales commended The Council and all the hard work done to keep the service up to speed.

She said: “We would like to take the opportunity to recognise the continued effort to maintain service delivery in the face of the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about. “

“It is extremely pleasing to note your high levels of performance during 2019/20 exceeding all key performance targets in relation to timeliness of births, still-births and MCCD deaths achieving 100 per cent, 100 per cent and 96 per cent respectively.

“Additionally, you have exceeded the key performance targets around appointment availability for all appointment types, achieving 100 per cent across the board.

Our Superintendent Registrar Andrew Lucas and the registrars and staff who work for him was also praised by the Compliance Officer in the reply, “Andrew’s work throughout the year to maintain the excellent performance levels is also noted, alongside that of the wider registration team.”

During the past three months, the Registrars have been busy registering population changes as they arrive from Hospitals and UK records to ensure the registration of any changes takes place as soon as possible.

Registrars have also worked hard trying to reschedule and accommodate marriages which had to be cancelled due to the COVID 19 crisis.

The first of the rescheduled marriages took place at 12:01 on the 4th July, the first to take place anywhere in the Country.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Registration Service, Cllr Stef Nelson, said, “We are rightly very proud of our Registration Service for once again exceeding the national targets and of course for ensuring a professional and friendly service to the residents of Halton.”
