Pedestrian dies following fail-to-stop collision in Stockport

A pedestrian who was in collision with a car in Stockport has sadly died.

Andy Morris, 46, who was from Stockport, was struck by an unknown vehicle on the northbound A6 in Great Moor at around 3:20am on 18 February 2023.

He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with multiple injuries. He spent almost a month in hospital but sadly died on 14 March 2023.

In a statement, his family said: “In loving memory of Andy, who was sadly taken away too soon. Andy was a loving father, son, brother and friend. 

“Our hearts will be forever broken not having you in our lives. Your infectious laugh, joke telling, singing (well, debatable singing that is!) and magic tricks will forever be with us all. 

“You will be sadly missed by everyone. Your kind and caring nature will be forever imprinted in those you came into contact with. All our love forever. God bless x.”

Three people arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and causing serious injury by dangerous driving have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
