Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a care home in Stockport

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the next of kin of a man from Salford

At around 7.15am on Saturday 6 June, police received a report of an earlier burglary at Bamford Close, Adswood Lane West, Cale Green.

Offices attended and established that, between 10pm on Friday 5 June and 5.30am the following morning, the offender(s) broke in to the officer and stole two safes – one containing residents’ valuables and the other containing objects of sentimental value.

The objects of sentimental value include a unique palm sized 3D wooden heart, engraved with ‘Colin Forever In My Heart x’. The heart belongs to a female resident contains her late husband’s ashes and a lock of hair.

An investigation is underway.

No arrests have been made.

PC Steven Watson, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “This burglary was devastating for the residents of this care home as well as their loved ones. The safe contained items which meant a great deal to them, including wedding rings and an urn.

“I appeal to anyone who finds either safe, any objects which might have been within them or with information which might assist us with our enquiries to contact us as soon as possible.

“We would really like to find these valuables, return them to their owners and for the person(s) responsible to face justice.”
