Redbridge High School – Coronavirus Closure

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson writes to city: Keep being kind, safe and responsible

A Liverpool high school has been forced to temporarily close due to staff shortages caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

The senior leadership team at Redbridge High School, Fazakerley, took the decision to close the school on Friday (Sept 18) following four positive tests amongst staff members and their contacts.

As a result of this and due to other staff members already self-isolating the school now has 31 members of staff unable to come to work.

Redbridge High School caters for children with a range of special educational needs. The senior leadership team has taken the decision to close the school to prevent the further spread of the infection and to protect vulnerable pupils.

The school is in the process of contacting parents and other stakeholders to inform them of the closure.

Headteacher Paul Cronin said: “Our conclusion is, to prevent further spread of infection and to protect our vulnerable pupils, we need to close the school for the identified isolation period. We recognise that this will be a very difficult time for the families of our very complex children but the safety of our pupils and staff is paramount.

“We will continue to keep our school community informed throughout this time.”
