English rock band Reef have today been announced as support to Canadian superstar Bryan Adams at the DCBL Stadium in Widnes this July 2.

To date the band have sold in excess of three million albums worldwide with their latest, Shoot Me Your Ace, entering the UK Top 20 this week.

Since forming in 1993, Reef have released seven studio albums all of which have gone Top 40 in the UK, with the band’s first album Replenish achieving Gold status which, in turn, led to tours with the likes of Paul Weller, Soundgarden and the Rolling Stones.

If that was not enough their second album Glow in 1997, produced by George Drakoulias (producer of acts such as the Black Crowes and more recently music supervisor of the multi award-winning film The Joker) soared straight to Number One in the UK album charts and achieved Platinum status.

Glow also included the band’s biggest hit single to date Place Your Hands, a song about “Easing the pain of death” written by Gary Stringer following the death of his grandfather. The track continues to resonate with audiences the world over and was famously used by Radio DJ Chris Evans on his cult TV show TFI Friday.

Since then, Reef have continued to go from strength to strength, with nine 9 Top 40 singles and five hit albums. Their last release Revelation on Ear Records, also produced by George Drakoulias, propelled the band back into the charts in 2018, receiving some of the best reviews of their career while also seeing them appear on some of the nation’s biggest TV and radio shows including The One Show.

Reef have always been hailed as one of the UKs best, most respected, and prolific live acts with the band continuing to tour the world over. Recently they opened as special guests to Coldplay at Wembley Stadium after being personally invited by singer Chris Martin, who cites Reef as helping give him huge motivation that he could make it too, being a fellow West Country boy.

It does not matter whether they are headlining Hammersmith Apollo or playing at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, they are a force to reckoned with and a must for any festival. On playing live Gary Stringer says: “It’s really exciting for me to go out and to play and to look into people’s eyes who are ready to rock already. You get on stage and throw that energy down and it comes right back. That’s how you get an exciting gig.”

Reef’s latest album Shoot Me Your Ace, features the lupine banger Wolfman and recently released single Best Of Me. One of the most thrilling rock albums of recent years, Shoot Me Your Ace was produced by Andy Taylor (Duran Duran) who also plays guitar on the album and is a thrilling blast of unadulterated rock ’n’ roll joy. It doesn’t just match such classic Reef albums as Replenish or Glow but exceeds them. After two years of uncertainty, despondency, and gloom, it feels like an outpouring of positivity. As Gary Stringer puts it: “It’s the sound the world needs right now.”
