Road closures in place for Warrington Running Festival

Some Warrington roads will be closed to ensure the event is safe for runners on Sunday 26 September.

The festival, a new event for Warrington organised by Run Through, takes place in the town centre this Sunday from 9am, hosting 5k, 10k and half marathon race.

Some roads in the borough will be closed to vehicles before and during the event, which may cause some disruption.

If you are hoping to watch the running festival or visit the town centre on Sunday, please familiarise yourself with the road closures which will be in force from 5.30am to 2pm. The roads affected are:

  • Bold Street (Rylands Street to Bridge Foot)
  • Bridge Foot
  • Bridge Street
  • Cantilever Bridge
  • Cantilever North West Approach
  • Cantilever South East Approach
  • Cantilever South West Approach
  • Chester Road
  • Church Lane (Chester Road to Broad Lane)
  • Church Street
  • Farrell Street
  • Grammar School Road
  • Grappenhall Road
  • Hallaway
  • Holmesfield Road
  • Howley Lane
  • Hunts Lane
  • Knutsford Road westbound (Hallaway to Wilderspool Causeway)
  • Knutsford Road westbound (Grammar School Road to Hallaway)
  • Knutsford Road eastbound (Wilderspool Causeway to Thelwall Lane)
  • Lumb Brook Road (Chester Road to Bridge Lane)
  • Legh Street (Sankey Street to Regent Street)
  • Mersey Street
  • Palmyra Square North
  • Palmyra Square South
  • Rylands Street
  • Sankey Street (Crosfield Street to Bold Street)
  • Springfield Street
  • Station Road
  • Stockton Lane
  • Suez Street
  • Warrington Old Bridge
  • Warrington New Bridge
  • Wash Lane
  • Wharf Street
  • Wilderspool Causeway (Chester Road to Knutsford Road)
  • Wilson Patten Street (Slutchers Lane to Bridge Foot)
  • Winmarleigh Street

Alternative routes will be established via Walton Road, Chester Road, Slutchers Lane, Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road, Sankey Way, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, and Knutsford Road.

Roads will reopen as soon as possible after the passage of the race.
