Entertain the kids and teach them importance of road safety this Wednesday.
Warrington Borough Council’s road safety and sustainable travel teams are bringing you a day of activities at Walton Hall and Gardens.
They will be providing a series of safe and sustainable education and activities, aimed at children aged around 6-9 years old, though there will be something for all the family.
The event will be held at the back of the conservatories, between 10am and 3pm, on Wednesday 26 August. Book your slot on Eventbrite for free for scooter training and bike training.
Children aged 6 and 7 can take part in scooter training, navigating a course to improve their steering, balance, braking and observation skills, and pedestrian awareness, as well learning about general road safety, such as crossing a road or a driveway. All children will be requested to bring their own scooters.
Children aged 8 and 9 will be shown how to carry out safety checks on their bikes and learn about the importance of wearing a cycle helmet. Children will then look at rules of the road, focusing on road signs, learning what the shapes and colours of signs mean. Children do not need to bring their own bikes.
Every child taking part will also receive a free goody bag to take home.
Numbers to the bookable sessions will be limited in order to adhere to social distancing, and are only available for Warrington residents.
Families can also get involved in a FREE treasure trail through the gardens, providing information on cycle training, family rides and also displaying Warrington’s new cycle map. Once children have completed the trail, they can collect a prize and bag full of goodies. You do not need to book a slot for the treasure trail..
