Over the Jubilee Weekend, 2 June until 5 June, Manchester City Council will be holding a packed schedule of events across the City Centre for all ages.
Piccadilly Gardens will be hosting a party fit for royalty throughout the Jubilee weekend, from 11am till 7pm. The area will be completely transformed into a bustling market and, will be the home to a large program of live music and dance performances throughout the extended weekend.
From donuts to tipples, Piccadilly Gardens will be serving up scrumptious food and drink all jubilee weekend – an essential part of any party!
At 9:45pm on Thursday 2 June, a Beacon will be lit in St Peter’s Square to mark the historic occasion. The lighting of the Beacon will be accompanied by live music performed by a Piper and the GMP band. The Beacon is one of thousands being lit in the UK and the Commonwealth, and forms part of the official programme announced by Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee weekend.
Additionally, Manchester city centre shops and restaurants will be putting on a show fit for a Queen with the return of the city’s prestigious annual flower festival, The Manchester Flower Show.
Headlining this year’s event is The Queen’s Jubilee Trail, hosted by City Co, 10 stunning professional displays, commissioned by Manchester Business Improvement District, located across the city centre inspired by the Queen’s 70 years of service, the Crown Jewels, the Changing of the Guard, the Queen’s love of horses and more. Plus, there’s entertainment, talks and live music on the main stage in Exchange Square, a Manchester Flower Show Cocktail Trail, pop-up food and drink stalls and bars on New Cathedral Street and Exchange Square and a flower and craft market on Market Street.
For Jubilee party- seekers, Sackville Gardens will be hosting an all-weekend dance party. Perfect for those who want to jig their way through the bank holiday. The ‘Fit for a Queen Weekend’ in Sackville Gardens, on Whitworth Street, will be paying homage to Her Majesty by getting everyone up and rocking along to iconic songs from the past 70 years.
To finish off the extended bank holiday, Manchester City Council will be hosting a Sunday Funday in Central Library. Central Library will be open on Sunday 5 June between 12 and 4pm for families to conclude the Jubilee weekend with a day full of vintage films, crafts and face painting. All activities are free, and pre-booking is not required.
