Share your views on local parish council arrangements and a petition submitted by residents to create a new town council for Newton and Earlestown, as part of the Community Governance Review (CGR) consultation.
The review is being held following recent changes made by the Local Government Boundary Commission Review of the borough’s electoral wards.
The Community Governance Review will consider what, if any, changes are needed to existing parish council arrangements, taking into consideration the new ward patterns while ensuring the parish councils continue to reflect the identity and interests of local communities. Currently, St Helens Borough has seven parish councils.
At the same time, consultation will be undertaken on a petition submitted by residents to create a new town council for Newton and Earlestown, now known as Newton-le-Willows East and Newton-le-Willows West wards.
Residents within the Newton-le-Willows East and West wards will receive a postal ballot question pack between 1 October and 6 October and will have until midnight on 3 November to complete and return the ballot paper either by post or online. Other interested parties can respond via an online survey detailed below.
Residents in other parts of the borough can provide feedback on the town council proposals through the consultation.
The consultation launched today (Monday 3 October) and runs until 30 December 2022.
