Statement on police presence in West Kirkby Sunday 2 May

Project EDWARD -Every Day Without A Road Death

Merseyside Police can confirm that officers are in attendance in West Kirby this evening (Sunday 2 May) following the discovery of a suspected unexploded ordnance device. 

Emergency services were called around 4.30pm, after the device was found by a member of the public.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended, examined the device and have secured the area.

The device, believed to be a mortar ordnance, will be safely removed later this evening.
