The Atkinson can’t wait to pull up the curtain and welcome you back into their traditional theatre this Christmas. Behind the scenes, the arts centre in Southport have been working hard to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all, receiving the Society of London Theatre & UK Theatre’s See It Safely mark.

Follow the yellow brick road to The Atkinson this festive season, where LHK Productions will whisk you over the rainbow in their wizardly wicked Christmas pantomime, The Wizard of Oz.

Appearing larger than life in virtual reality, the multi-talented musician, Dancing on Ice and Hollyoaks star Ray Quinn as the magical Wizard of Oz.

The fabulous cast also includes the voice of the airwaves, Claire Simmo from BBC Radio Merseyside & Sandgrounder Radio as Glinda The Good Witch, West End star Chris Barton as the Cowardly Lion, the hilarious Lewis Pryor as Scarecrow, the loveable Mia Molloy as Dorothy, Southport’s Tom Burroughs as Tinman and everyone’s favourite dame Michael Chapman as The Wicked Witch.

This classic tale will be wonderfully reimagined on stage in LHK’s sensational panto production based on L. Frank Baum’s beloved children’s book.

PURCHASING TICKETS

Purchase your tickets

Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone and at the Box Office. Seats are selected from a socially distanced plan with groupings of 2, 3 & 4 available. Groups of 5 & 6 must book their seats at Box Office. We suggest you choose to receive an e-ticket, however tickets can be posted to customers when required.

Purchase your refreshments

We recommend pre-ordering your arrival and interval refreshments when purchasing tickets, these will be brought to your seat.

Refunds and exchanges

If a customer or a member of their party experiences a Covid-19 event, we will allow ticket exchanges or refunds up to the scheduled start of the booked performance. If the customer wishes to exchange to a later performance they must have taken a Covid-19 test and received a negative result/completed 14 days isolation at least 3 days prior to the scheduled start of the performance.

For shows that have been cancelled or rescheduled due to COVID-19, customers are entitled to a ticket refund, exchange, credit note, or can donate the cost to The Atkinson Development Trust.

Booking fees are an administrative cost and are non-refundable.

BEFORE YOU VISIT

Check your health

If your temperature is higher than 37.8°c, you have a new continuous cough, or you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, you should stay at home.

Consider your travel options

Consider your travel options and use a car, motorcycle, bicycle or walk to the theatre where possible, in accordance with the current UK Government guidance.

Pack your face covering

During your visit we are asking you to wear a face covering at all times, except when eating and drinking. Children under 11 are exempt from wearing face coverings. Those exempt from wearing face coverings for medical reasons are encouraged to wear the recommended lanyard.

Ticket check

Please check your confirmation email or ticket for your arrival time as we are staggering entrance times to minimise queueing.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Join the queue

On arrival at the venue please join the queue, ensuring you maintain a safe distance from others (guided by floor markings). Our staff will be on hand to assist you.

Cloakroom

We are asking you to bring minimal belongings as we won’t be able to offer a cloakroom service at this time.

Sanitise station

Please sanitise your hands when you enter or exit the venue.

Wear your face covering

Please wear your face covering when you enter the building. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering (for medical reasons) please let our staff know when you arrive.

Temperature check

We’ll carry out temperature checks using our thermal imaging camera. Only one person can be assessed at any one time, so please wait to be called forward.

Ticket check

Once you have passed the temperature check, your ticket will then be checked and your party will be directed to their seats by our helpful staff.

DURING YOUR VISIT

Keeping your distance

During your visit please ensure you maintain a safe distance from others using the floor marking guides for reference.

Follow the routes

When moving around the theatre, please follow the clearly marked one-way routes to help maintain safe distancing. We’ve installed easy to follow floor markings and signage to assist you.

Wear your face covering

Whilst in the theatre, you must wear a face covering throughout your visit, except when eating and drinking.

In-seat service

Arrival and interval refreshments can be pre-ordered when purchasing tickets. To minimise queuing and physical contact we are offering in-seat ordering and delivery service.

Contactless payments and collections

We’ve installed protective screens and introduced payment technology to allow for contactless purchases at our retail outlets. Look out for designated pick up points where you can collect online orders. We are unable to accept cash payments at this time.

Wash your hands

Please wash your hands before and after using toilet facilities and sanitise your hands regularly using the products provided.

Enhanced cleaning

Rest assured, as always, the theatre is professionally cleaned and disinfected before each performance. Common contact surfaces and toilet facilities are regularly sanitised by our on-site cleaning team.

WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING

Follow directions

At the end of the performance please follow staff directions. You will be asked to exit in small groups and via specific doors.
