At around 11.30am on Sunday 3 May 2020, police were called by hospital staff reporting concerns for a man with serious injuries.
Officers attended and following enquiries established that the 35-year-old man had been assaulted on Hathersage Road, Longsight at around 11.00am.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, 35-year-old Abdi Ali from Longsight passed away on Monday 11 of May.
A 28-year-old man has been charged in relation to this incident.
Paying tribute to Abdi, his family said:
“Abdi was a beloved brother and son and this tragic loss will be forever felt by his family and friends.
“He was a young man with his whole life ahead of him and he lost his life under very tragic circumstances.
“We as a family will cherish all the good times we had with him and find a way to move forward while still keeping his memory.”
