Two arrested for drug offences in Huyton

We have arrested two men for drug offences following an incident in Huyton yesterday, Sunday 23 January, where cannabis resin was discarded in a glasses case.

At around 5.25pm, officers on patrol in Huyton sighted a man on an electric bike on Lansbury Road, cycling towards Henderson Road.

When officers attempted to engage with the man he cycled off at speed, discarded the bike on Henderson Road, and made off on foot.

As he made off, the man discarded two glasses cases with multiple bags of cannabis resin inside.

Following a short foot chase, officers detained and arrested the 31-year-old man from Stockbridge Village on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and theft of a pedal cycle.

Following the arrest, police executed a warrant at an address on Oxford Road, Huyton and seized a quantity of cannabis resin, white powder (suspected class A drugs) and drugs paraphernalia.

A 46-old man from Huyton at the address was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

Both men have been taken into custody for questioning.

Knowsley Targeted Policing Inspector Paul Makin said: “The swift arrests made by our officers yesterday show that we are committed to removing drugs and the misery that they cause from the streets of Merseyside.

“No criminal should profit from such misery while our wider law-abiding communities work hard to earn an honest living. If you know someone in your area involved in suspected drug dealing please let us know so we can take them off our streets.”

If you have any information on the possession of, storage or use of drugs in your community, please contact our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’.
