Officers have removed more than £2,500 worth of class A drugs from the streets of Chester in a two-day operation.
On Tuesday 22 November and Wednesday 23 November, a number of officers from Chester Local Policing Unit (LPU), along with the passive drugs dog, were deployed to the city centre to disrupt those intent on bringing illegal substances into the county from surrounding areas.
Plain clothed officers were on hand to assist in the stop and search of 50 people over the two days.
Two men were arrested and later remanded for possession with intent to supply and eight stops resulted in community resolutions.
There were 12 referrals for rough sleepers made to housing providers and three sleeping encampments were removed.
One man was arrested on suspicion of public order and the other was arrested on recall to prison.
Chief Inspector Mike Ankers said:
“This operation is just one of many ways in which we are working to make Chester a safer place to work and visit.
“By targeting the supply of drugs into the city we are not only removing these drugs from our streets but also tackling other crime that surrounds this activity such as anti-social behaviour.
“We will be doing all we can to tackle criminality in our city and I would urge anyone who may have information on drug dealing to contact us.”
