Two men arrested in connection with a shooting in Warrington

Spate of reports of young people riding motorised bikes in Ellesmere Port

Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting in Warrington.

They were arrested in Lancashire on Sunday 27 April on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently in custody being questioned by detectives.

The arrests relate to a number of shots fired outside an address on Poplars Avenue in Warrington at 8.50pm on Friday 24 April.

A 55-year-old man received serious but not life threatening injuries to his leg and he remains in hospital in a stable condition.

An investigation remains ongoing and detectives are following a number of lines of enquiry.

Superintendent Martin Cleworth said: “I would like to make it clear that we are doing everything in our powers to tackle this sort of criminality in Warrington and to bring those responsible to justice.

“We understand how concerning this incident is for those living in the community and we have increased patrols to provide reassurance for residents.

“This is a fast moving and complex investigation and would appeal to anyone with information to please get in touch.”
