Two men have been arrested after a man was violently attacked in Bury

Did you witness an assault of two men in Tameside?

At around 12.20am on Sunday 23 May 2021, police were called to reports of a stabbing on Prince Street, Ramsbottom.

Enquiries established that four men – who were wearing balaclavas and wielding knives – got out of a red VW Golf on Silver Street and chased the victim – a 24 year old man – to Prince Street where they attacked him, stabbing him multiple times to the lower body.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

Two men – aged 19 – have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They have since been further arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and theft of a motor vehicle. They have both since been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Dan Smith, of GMP’s Bury district, said: “Although we have arrested two people our investigation remains very much ongoing. We are following all available lines of enquiry to identity the outstanding suspects and ensure all those responsible are brought to justice.

“The individuals responsible for this attack were travelling in a red VW Golf. If anyone was in the area on that night and saw this car, or has dashcam footage of this car and its occupants then please get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
