With coronavirus case numbers remaining very high in Warrington, and following the government’s announcement about the new three-level COVID-19 alert system, health and council leaders are set to deliver another public broadcast tomorrow, Wednesday 14 October, at 5pm.
The panel for Wednesday’s broadcast will include:
- Cllr Russ Bowden, Leader of the Council
- Professor Steven Broomhead MBE , Chief Executive of the council
- Thara Raj , Director of Public Health
- Professor Simon Constable, Chief Executive, Warrington Hospital
- Dr Andrew Davies, Clinical Chief Officer, NHS Warrington CCG
Nationally, hospital admissions are rising steeply, and Warrington is no different. There has been a large increase of people being admitted into intensive care over the last few weeks in Warrington, with more people becoming extremely unwell because of the virus.
The broadcast on Wednesday will discuss the current picture across the health and social care system in Warrington, what the new three-tier model means for Warrington, and what the current case numbers are in the town.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden said: “The broadcast on Wednesday may be the most important one we’ve done so far.
“The reality for our town is that coronavirus case numbers are providing a stubbornly difficult challenge for us to bring down. We need to follow both the new ‘high risk’ area guidance and regulations, as well as continue to do ‘the right thing’, in order to try and reverse the current trend of continued, high case numbers in our town.
“The grim reality is that it’s not just case numbers that are rising in Warrington, but hospitalisations and, tragically, deaths too. We will explain in more detail the current situation and how we can all continue to play our part, in tomorrow’s broadcast.”
