Warrington Market’s popular Cookhouse open for takeaway services

Traders in Warrington Market’s ‘Cookhouse’ are back, with the launch of delivery and click-and-collect services.

Opening every Friday and Saturday, from 4pm – 8.30pm, customers can browse menus online, order and pay for food and choose to collect or have it delivered.

Three traders – Louie’s PizzaKrua Thai and Casa Mexica – initially opened for orders last Friday and Saturday to great success. They were overwhelmed with the response and are now looking to recruit more delivery drivers to meet demand.

They will be joined this week by award winning pop-culture inspired burger joint, Café at the End of the Universe and pan-Asian favourite, Eastern Point

When the Cookhouse is fully operational, there are a total of 12 food vendors offering a variety of hot and cold cuisines from around the world, and more are expected to join the take-away service in the coming weeks.

Warrington residents and brothers, James and Tom Glover, are the team behind Louie’s Pizza. Since joining the Cookhouse line-up when the new market opened its doors in July last year, they have proved hugely popular. James said: “Having to close when we were doing so well was disappointing. We’ve got a great set-up at the market and the whole team is really pleased to get back to work, albeit just for takeaway for now.

“Since we opened, we’ve built a great local following and we’ve received a lot of requests for us to do this over the last few weeks, so we’re keen to meet the demand.”

Cllr Tom Jennings, Cabinet Member for economic development and innovation, said “Cookhouse has proven to be an extremely popular attraction for the new market since opening last July. Throughout the pandemic, the traders have shown real dedication and resilience with the changing rules and restrictions, so it’s fantastic news that some of our Cookhouse favourites are now open again with a great offer for customers.

“I’m pleased we are able to support them by creating new solutions to enable them to continue trading in a way that is safe and secure way during these challenging times.”
