Merseyside Police appeal for information following dangerous car theft incident in Huyton

Merseyside Police are appealing for information following a dangerous incident in Huyton on Tuesday, 12th March. A silver Renault Laguna was stolen from Wallace Avenue after a delivery driver left his car running while posting a parcel. The stolen vehicle collided into a garden on Hurst Park Drive before the suspect fled towards Longview Drive. Described as a white man in his 30s, approximately 6ft 2in tall, wearing a blue Berghaus puffer coat with his hood up, dark tracksuit bottoms, and Nike trainers with yellow detail, the police are urging anyone with information or relevant CCTV footage to come forward. Detective Inspector James Rotheram emphasised the seriousness of the offence and urged witnesses to contact Merseyside Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.


We are appealing for information after a stolen car collided into the garden of a property in Huyton last week, Tuesday 12 March.

At around 11am it was reported that a delivery driver parked his car – a silver Renault Laguna on Wallace Avenue as he was posting a parcel. A man then entered the delivery driver’s vehicle and started the engine. He drove off towards Hurst Park Drive where the car collided into the garden of a house on the road.

The man then ran off from Hurst Park Drive towards Longview Drive. He is described as a white, man in his 30s, around 6ft 2inches tall of slim build, wearing a blue Berghaus puffer coat with his hood up, dark tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers with yellow detail.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify this man and police are asking for anyone with information, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.

Detective Inspector James Rotheram said: “Thankfully, nobody was hurt during this incident, but this was still an extremely dangerous and reckless offence that caused serious damage to a house in the area.

“If you saw the incident or the man involved on Wallace Avenue, Hurst Park Drive or Longview Drive please let us know. Likewise, if you live on any of these roads and have any CCTV or doorbell footage that could have captured the incident please check your systems and get in touch so we can take action and find the man responsible.

“Whether you contact us directly or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers, your information will be acted upon.”
