CCTV appeal following city centre assault

Detectives investigating an assault in Liverpool city centre have issued CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist enquiries.

It was reported that at around 2am on Friday, 11 September, a 33-year-old man was approached from behind by another man in McCooley’s, Mathew Street, who then bit his ear.

The victim attended hospital for treatment to a serious but non-life threatening injury to his ear.

An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.

Detective Constable Craig Jones said: “We’re appealing for information following this unprovoked and shocking attack in Liverpool city centre, which left a man with a serious injury requiring hospital treatment.

“We know the area would’ve been busy at the time of the incident and a number of people were in the bar, and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the man pictured as we believe he may have vital information to assist the investigation, so if it’s you, or you recognise him, please contact us.”
