CCTV images issued after teenagers assaulted and racially abused in Birkenhead

We have issued CCTV images of four people we would like to speak to after three teenagers were assaulted in Birkenhead.

At around 8.30pm on Thursday 8th April, the three males, aged 18, 17 and 19, were walking in a park near to Claughton Road when they were confronted by a large group of youths. The three teenagers were then chased by the group, racially abused and assaulted.

The teenagers attempted to enter a shop on Claughton Road but were followed into the shop where the assault continued. Damage was also caused to a window during the incident.

The teenagers were not seriously injured but suffered cuts and bruising to their faces and bodies.

Detectives have now issued CCTV images of four people they would like to speak to.

Detective Inspector Matt Caton said: “This was an unprovoked assault on three teenagers by a much larger group of youths. They were also subjected to racist comments. Thankfully none of them were seriously injured but clearly this behaviour is unacceptable.

“We would like to speak to the four males pictured as we believe they may have information which is vital to our investigation. Anyone who recognises the males or can assist our enquiries is asked to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000223944.
