Detectives appeal for information following assault in Liverpool City Centre

Appeal to trace female runner as part of Wirral assault investigation

Detectives are appealing for information following an assault in Liverpool City Centre last night, Thursday 22 July.

At 8.25pm, emergency services were called to Whitechapel to reports that a man in his 20s had been found with head injuries. It is believed that he was struck with a bottle. The victim was taken to hospital and his condition is described as stable. Enquiries are ongoing, including forensics, witness and CCTV.

Initial accounts suggest that the suspect was white, around 15 years old, of slim build, with long dark black hair, a black top and shorts, and with blood on him.

Detective Inspector Paul Jones said: “We’re keen to speak to anyone who was close to the Met Quarter and saw this incident, or a male matching this description making off. Thankfully the victim did not suffer serious injuries but we’re determined to find out who was responsible and put them before the courts.

“Come forward with any information and we will take action.”
