Appeal after boy has his bicycle stolen in Widnes robbery

Detectives investigating a robbery in Runcorn are appealing to members of the public for information.

At around 11.40pm on Thursday 9 June, a 56-year-old woman was walking on Whitchurch Way, Runcorn, when three men approached her.

One of the men grabbed two bags the woman was carrying and as a result she was pushed and fell to the floor, sustaining minor injuries.

The men fled the scene towards Grangeway, Runcorn with the bags.

A quantity of cash was stolen as a result of the incident.

The three men are described to be in their late teens/early 20’s, of slim build and were all wearing dark coloured clothing.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who may have information or had witnessed the robbery to please get in touch.

Detective Constable James Simpson said: “Thankfully the victim did not sustain serious injuries as a result of the incident, but the robbery has understandably left her extremely shaken up.

“There have been a number of enquiries underway in the local area and I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“As part of our enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen something that didn’t look quite right, to come forward with information.

“I’d also ask residents with CCTV and dashcam footage from the area to send this to us, if they have not already done so, as we believe it will help us with the investigation.”

Anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary online on the website or via 101 quoting IML 1289248.

Information can also be provided by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
