The family of 72-year-old Kenneth Hartley, who tragically died following a collision on the 13 October 2021, have paid tribute to ‘a loving father to Andrew and Rebecca and grandfather to Stephen, Emma and Caden. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Rest in peace Ken.’
Police were called just before 2pm to Manchester Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, to a report of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended but despite the best efforts of paramedics Kenneth – the pedestrian – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry failed to stop but was later located and the driver is assisting Police with their enquiries. The driver of another lorry – not involved in the collision – remained at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Kenneth’s family have asked for privacy at this time.
PS Phil Shaw, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with Kenneth’s family and friends.
“This collision happened in the middle of the day and I am hopeful that there are a number of witnesses who can assist us with our enquiries.
