We can confirm that officers seized a firearm in Kirkdale this morning, Wednesday 16 September.
At around 9.30am, officers were called to an area between Kirkdale and Sandhills stations to a report of a firearm being found.
The firearm has been made safe and forensically recovered. Officers remain in the area to carry out further enquiries.
