Fourth arrest in Steven McMyler murder investigation

Officers have arrested two men after three people were stabbed in Stockport

Detectives investigating the death of Steven McMyler in Wigan in August have made a fourth arrest in connection with the incident.

Steven, aged 34, was fatally kicked in the head in the gardens of Wigan Parish Church before 7.50pm on Thursday 6 August 2020.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he sadly passed away at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

One man and two boys have been already charged with Steven’s murder.

In the early hours of this morning (Friday 23 October) officers arrested a 20-year-old man from Merseyside on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Wes Knights, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Steven’s family and friends – we have been working around the clock to investigate the full circumstances surrounding his tragic death.

“I would like to thank the public for their co-operation in providing any information they have had to help our investigation, and we have now been able to make a fourth arrest in relation to this incident.
