Teen appears in court accused of Edgeley attempted murder

A man from Bolton has been charged with murder.

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court this morning charged with the attempted murder of a teenager who suffered serious knife wounds in Edgeley last month.

Abdata Jamal (01/01/2002), of no fixed abode, is accused of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon relating to the incident on Herbert Street on Tuesday 21 September.

Jamal has also been charged with section 18 assault, affray and criminal damage in relation to unrelated incidents.

He was arrested and charged yesterday (Tuesday 12 October) before appearing at Tameside Magistrates’ Court this morning where he has been further remanded in custody to next appear at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday 17 November.

Officers were called at around 11.15am (21 September 2021) to a report of a stabbing on Herbert Street, Edgeley, Stockport.

A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is receiving ongoing medical treatment.
