The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Jean Flaherty, is inviting local people to join her for two fascinating trips into the past.
Two special Heritage Breakfast Events are being held at Warrington Town Hall this March and April. Hosted by the Mayor, the events will give everyone the chance to discover more about two important parts of Warrington’s proud history.
The first event, ‘A history of Daresbury Laboratory’ with guest speaker Alan Brown, will tell the story of how the laboratory, since its inception in 1962 has pushed the boundaries of modern science, to become internationally recognised for world-leading scientific excellence in a range of fields, from nuclear physics to supercomputing. It takes place on Friday 31 March, 9.30am to 11am, at Warrington Town Hall, with tickets costing £10.95, which includes a breakfast barm with tea or coffee. The second event, ‘A short history of Policing in Warrington’, featuring guest speaker Will Brown, will delve into the history and development of policing in the town − from the formation of the first police forces in the early 19th century, through to the fundamental policing changes of the second half of the 20th century. It takes place on Friday 28 April, 9.30am to 11am, at Warrington Town Hall, with tickets costing £10.95. Once again, included in the ticket price is a breakfast barm with tea or coffee.
