Second man charged in St Helens assault investigation

Three men charged with violent disorder – Anfield

Detectives have charged a second man in connection with an assault in St Helens on Monday, 14 September.

Shortly after 8.15pm, officers were called to Crab Street by the ambulance service to reports of two men in their 30s being assaulted.

Following enquiries, two men were arrested and taken for questioning.

A third man was arrested yesterday, Tuesday 29 September. 32-year-old David Scurfield from Burtonwood has been charged with two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of section 18 wounding. He will appear at St Helens Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 30 September.

32-year-old Shawn O’Malley from Orford has already been charged with two counts of section 18 wounding, two counts of false imprisonment and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

O’Malley has been remanded in custody to next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, 23 October 2020.

A 33-year-old man from St Helens remains on conditional bail.
