The Mayor of Halton has expressed the sadness of the Council and the people of the Borough of Halton at the news of the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Cllr Margaret Horabin, said: “We join the nation and the world in mourning the loss of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who has dutifully served our country and steadfastly supported Her Majesty the Queen during her reign. Through his own work His Royal Highness has supported many charities and good causes. In particular, his Duke of Edinburgh Programme has provided many young people in Halton and across the country the opportunity to build their self-confidence, meet new friends and learn life-changing skills.”
As a mark of respect, Halton Borough Council will be flying flags at its buildings at half-mast.
At the request of Buckingham Palace, due to the current public health situation, Books of Condolence will not be available for the public to sign.
