Appeal after assault in St Helens

We are appealing for information following a serious assault in Kensington on Thursday, 25 June.

At around 7.30pm, officers were called to Boaler Street following reports the victim, a 52-year-old man was approached by a man and woman who briefly spoke to him, before the man punched him causing him to fall to the floor.

It is believed the offenders first appeared from an alley way on Boaler Street and made off on foot in the direction of Mansell Road.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The male offender is described as in his late 20’s, of slim build, with fair hair and wearing a dark coloured t-shirt. The female is described as in her late 20’s, around 5ft 4in tall, of heavy build with blonde hair worn in a bun. She was wearing a multi-coloured t-shirt and light blue jeans.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said:” This was a nasty and unprovoked assault which left a man with serious injuries, which he is still receiving treatment for in hospital.

“We are carrying out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the area at the time, has any dashcam footage or saw a man and woman fitting the description in the area.

“If you have any information, no matter how small, please get in touch as it could prove vital to the investigation.”
