Detectives investigating a large-scale assault in the Fallowfield area of Manchester have released images of three men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

In the early hours of Sunday 12 January 2020, a group of men emerged from a white VW Golf on Standish Road and began assaulting a group of seven men who were waiting for a taxi.

While the attack was underway, more offenders joined in and attacked the victims with baseball bats and knives.

The victims suffered serious facial injuries – including knife wounds – and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The offenders are believed to have consisted of 15 to 20 Asian men, aged in their 20s.

A 19-year-old man has been convicted of violent disorder, possession of an offensive weapon and a section 47 assault in relation to the incident.

A second man, aged 22, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and section 18 assault and has since been released under investigation.

Investigators are appealing to the public to contact police with any information they may have.

Detective Constable Ann Cooper-Poole, of GMP’s West Didsbury CID, said: “This was a horrifying and unprovoked attack on a group of men who were simply waiting for a taxi home after a night out.

“We appreciate some time has passed since this incident took place but we have been extensively exploring several lines of enquiry to try and identify those who may hold information about this attack.

“One man has already been convicted in relation to this incident and we are keen to speak to the three men pictured for further information. I urge anyone who may recognise any of these men to do the right thing and to contact police.”
