Man charged following an assault in Widnes

Spate of reports of young people riding motorised bikes in Ellesmere Port

A man from Widnes has been charged following an assault in the town.

Connor Wright, of Avondale Drive, was arrested on Liverpool Road in the Hough Green area of Widnes shortly after 12.30pm on Sunday 12 July.

The 24-year-old has subsequently been charged with assaulting a person and causing them actual body harm.

He has also been charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The charges relate to an incident at the entrance to Hough Green Railway Station.

A 22-year-old man from Liverpool sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident, which occurred shortly before 12.30pm on Sunday 12 July.

He did not go to hospital.

Wright appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 July, via a video link.

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 10 August, again via a video link.
