Man charged following firearms incident in New Brighton, Wirral

Detectives investigating a firearms incident in New Brighton yesterday (Sunday 14 June) have charged a man with firearms and drug offences.

At around 6.50pm, it was reported that a male was seen in possession of a firearm at Fort Perch Rock.

Armed officers attended and recovered two BB guns and a quantity of cannabis. Three males were arrested at the scene and taken to police stations for questioning.

18-year-old Alistair Taylor-Cartwright of Overleigh Road in Chester has now been charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place, and possession of cannabis. He will appear this morning at Wirral Magistrates Court, Birkenhead this morning, Monday 15 June.

An 18-year-old man from Chester has been referred to the Youth Offending Team and a further 18-year-old man, also from Chester, was released with no further action taken.
