Next stop for Warrington’s vaccination bus

New NHS Test and Trace pilot programme launches in Warrington

Warrington’s vaccination bus is on the road again and will be making its next stop at Warrington Town Hall this Thursday, 20 May.

The session will take place on the forecourt in front of the Town Hall on Sankey Street, on Thursday 20 May, from 9.30am to 1pm.

Jabs will be given to eligible people on a first come first served basis and there will only be a limited number available. Those currently eligible to receive the vaccine are people aged 36 and over, or those who turn 36 before 1 July, people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, health and social care workers, and unpaid carers.

If you wish to receive your jab, please bring your NHS number with you. If you don’t know your NHS number you can find it on any appointment letter you may have received from the NHS, or you can find it online at nhs.uk/find-nhs-number.

Please be aware the session might end early if all vaccines have been administered and you may have to queue. You may also have to be observed for 15 minutes after receiving your vaccination.

Anyone who receives their jab on the bus will be offered an appointment for their second vaccination at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.

This will be the third stop on the schedule, with the bus already calling at Warrington’s Own Buses depot and Woolston food manufacturing firm, Greencore, to provide COVID jabs to eligible employees and volunteers.

Warrington GP and Clinical Director of the Central and West Warrington Primary Care Network, Dr Laura Mount, said: “Our friendly team of vaccinators, clinic co-ordinators and volunteers will be on board on Thursday to give first doses of the COVID vaccine to people who are eligible.

“We want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people in Warrington to get their jab. The bus provides us with a great way to take COVID vaccinations out into our communities to administer the jab safely and efficiently to eligible people who haven’t been able to visit one of our local vaccination sites.”

The vaccination bus is a partnership between Central and West Warrington Primary Care Network (PCN), NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Warrington’s Own Buses and Warrington Borough Council.

Warrington’s Director of Public Health, Thara Raj, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the NHS and Warrington’s Own Buses on this project to help get as many people as possible vaccinated in Warrington.

“The vaccine programme has been a great success so far and we’re working through the cohorts as quickly as possible. The range of settings that the vaccine has been delivered is testament to the collaborative, whole-system approach in Warrington, and the vaccination bus is another great example of this. It’s really encouraging news as more restrictions are eased that people aged 38 and over can now get their vaccine, so I would urge everyone who is eligible to get their jab as soon as possible.”

More details about the future timetable for the bus will be announced shortly. If you are currently eligible to have the vaccine but don’t want to wait for the bus, you can book an appointment at a local vaccination site by contacting your GP practice, visiting nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or calling 119.

If your workplace would like to be considered for a visit by the vaccination bus, you can contact the council’s public health team at publichealth@warrington.gov.uk. Please note you must have staff in your workplace who are eligible to get vaccinated but have not yet visited a vaccination site.
