Warrington’s tribute to heroic staff

Warrington has paid tribute to the heroic NHS staff who are helping in the fight against COVID-19 with special road markings in three areas of the town.

Two messages have been painted near Warrington Hospital – on Lovely Lane northbound and Lovely Lane southbound. The third message has been painted on Sankey Street, outside Warrington’s Golden Gates.

The two-metre-square messages – which read ‘NHS – Thank You’ on a background of a heart and rainbow – have been fully funded by three companies, Hitex, Somerford Equipment and L & R Roadlines, to show their appreciation of the great work done by the NHS, social care and other key workers.

Warrington Borough Council Leader, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “The support in Warrington for our NHS workers and other frontline staff has been phenomenal, and we welcomed wholeheartedly the kind offer from companies who work regularly in the borough to create this fitting tribute.

“I hope these road markings serve as a daily reminder to all the heroic staff who are doing so much in the battle against COVID-19, of how much they mean to us and how much the whole of Warrington appreciates the work they are doing.”
